Select Tile, Marble & Flooring was contracted by Suffolk Construction Co. to install 14,000 SF of custom cut, 2cm thick stone fabricated and imported from Italy in this new construction building’s monumental staircase, with the lobby requiring a two-inch thick mud bed for a level installation. Also installed was a custom, solid white oak sit/step in the grand lobby. STMF polished 115,000 SF of concrete to a level two, 400 grit throughout all levels of this 19-story, 345,000 SF state-of-the-art building, which houses the mathematics & statistics and computer science departments, the newly created Faculty for Computing and Data Sciences, as well as the renowned Rafik B. Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science & Engineering. Scope also included the installation of carpet tile in all of the offices throughout the building, as well as the installation of engineered wide plank flooring in the 17th floor event space and rubber sheet flooring in the basement.
